Medical Adviser to the Department of Business - 823/2026

The Department of Business invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced medical professionals who wish to act as Medical Advisers to assist in the evaluation of business licence applications for medical and healthcare-related services.

Successful applicants will be remunerated per application reviewed, at a fee to be negotiated.

Profile:

The aim of this role is to provide independent, expert medical advice to the Department of Business to support the assessment of business licence applications for medical and healthcare-related services, ensuring that proposed services meet appropriate professional, clinical and safety standards.

To maintain a sound understanding of relevant legislation, professional standards and best practice in the delivery of medical and healthcare services in Gibraltar.

The main duties and responsibilities:

• Review and comment on the medical services proposed by applicants
• Assess applicants’ policies and procedures, including clinical governance, patient safety and infection control
• Evaluate the qualifications, professional registration and experience of applicants and relevant personnel
• Provide written observations and recommendations to the Department of Business within agreed timeframes
• Correspond with the Department of Business and assist in the processing of documentation
• Act at all times with impartiality and in strict confidence, and declare any conflict of interest
• Manage caseload effectively, which may vary as requirements demand

Requirements:

• A recognised medical or healthcare qualification, with current professional registration
• Substantial clinical and/or healthcare management experience
• Knowledge of healthcare regulation, clinical governance and professional standards
• Available to review applications as and when required
